About Cinebench - R15 EXTREME! Single Core

Cinebench R15 EXTREME! – Single Core is a modified version of the Cinebench R15 benchmark designed specifically to test the single-core performance of modern processors. This benchmark serves as a solution to the limitations of the standard Cinebench R15 version, which is no longer adequate for representing CPU performance in the era of processors with significantly higher architectures and clock speeds.

The main modification in the EXTREME! version is a fourfold increase in benchmark render resolution compared to the original version, creating a heavier and longer-lasting workload. In single-core mode, this is particularly useful because the rendering process is performed by a single thread, allowing the benchmark to test the efficiency and strength of the processor core architecture in greater depth. The resulting scores reflect the processor's performance in handling light to moderate tasks that are still very common in daily activities such as running applications, opening files, and user interface interactions.

This benchmark uses complex, photorealistic 3D scenes from CINEMA 4D, including thousands of objects, reflections, shadows, and advanced lighting effects. Due to the increased render load, Cinebench R15 EXTREME! single core also allows users to see how the processor maintains its performance during sustained workloads, without relying on short-term boost clocks that can sometimes result in unstable scores in the standard version.

Although this benchmark is an unofficial modification and is not distributed by Maxon, many enthusiasts and professionals use it to get a more accurate picture of single-thread CPU performance. Especially among overclockers, reviewers, and system technicians, Cinebench R15 EXTREME! – Single Core is a very useful tool for comparing core efficiency between processors, including across generations and architectures.
